At STEK, we are continually innovating to bring you new products and enhance our existing ones. One of our latest updates was to our line of Automotive Window Tint. Introducing the plus series under our Lunaray automotive tint, each of your favorite STEK tints now look and perform even better.
Why should you get tint?
Car owners get tint for a wide variety of reasons: heat rejection, glare reduction, privacy, and UV protection. Some folks, in fact, get a doctor’s prescription for window tint because it helps protect their eyes, and more commonly their skin, from harmful and cancerous UV rays. All these reasons are why all of us at STEK always get tint on each our vehicles, it’s something we pretty much can’t live without. That’s why we wanted to make our tint at good as possible. While we already have patent-pending technology in our top-of-the-line NEXseries, with the Graphene-infused heat rejection, we listened to feedback and made changes.

The Truth Behind the Color of Window Tint
All window films naturally have a slightly different color to them. Not just the darkness or VLT (visible light transmittance), but the color hue and tone vary from the raw materials used. Carbon window films have the most neutral charcoal gray color because the carbon particles used naturally have a graphite gray color. When it comes to ceramic window films, the ITO, ATO, and Tungston used to increase the heat rejection naturally have green and blue colors, which are seen in the final product.
After years of producing window tint, we fine-tuned our carbon to achieve a timeless charcoal color that does not fade. With the introduction of each of our new plus series tints (ACTION+, SMART+, NEX+), all three lines now share a deep carbon addition that eliminates the green and blue color hues. As a result, even our ceramic SMART+ and NEX+ series feature a gray color, providing you with all the heat rejection you want while maintaining the aesthetic you desire.

Carbon is a highly stable raw material and does not fade over time. That means these ceramic films will maintain their look from day one through year twenty-plus. The gray color tone of each of our plus series tints is a significant benefit because it complements any color car, truck, or SUV, and it better matches your factory tint that’s commonly found on rear windows. The stable color change is not the only new twist of our plus series Lunaray tint, though.
STEK Lunaray Tint, plus a lot of benefits
Our Lunaray tint also introduces a more scratch-resistant coating. This means that regular use won’t result in regular wear. It’s common to get scratches on your tint from seatbelts, watches, and rings, or if the car is dirty from the felt tracks that secure the window. With our improved SR (scratch-resistant) coating, it’s less likely that you’ll encounter any of these issues. This also makes the installation process a little easier, ensuring they achieve a positive and smooth result each time.

Another change to this film that benefits the tinter or tint installer is the easy-shrink raw material. Pushing the boundaries of PET (the base plastic for most window films), this film offers quick and forgiving shrinking, allowing for safer installation even on very curved glass. All in all, these changes also brought increased heat rejection and improved performance, making the ride as comfortable as possible and as premium as possible. Window tint is a no-brainer for millions of vehicles worldwide. You can learn more about each of our window tint’s here, or find an installer close to you here.
